My story
Expression has been my career focus for over twenty years. My journey as a professional storyteller, designer, and artist has taken me to 37 countries on five continents. This international career experience includes the creation of compelling experiences and the execution of economically sound production strategies. Consequently, this journey has made me realize my strength as a communicator and was a factor in my decision to return to school. In 2024, I completed a graduate degree in user experience design, focusing on healthcare information technology at Kent State University. Courses included healthcare information systems, human factors & usability in health informatics, and public health informatics.
Most recently, I designed and produced a two-day live digital event. I was hired to produce and direct this project based on my career experience within event planning, theatre, and creative services. I developed this first-of-its-kind educational event for a state agency. During the yearlong planning process, I assisted the event director in curating the experience, booking speakers, acquiring equipment, and selecting vendors. The event was successfully broadcast with more than 2,000 participants. This set the tone for future offerings within this agency’s services.
My time in the fashion industry began in LA where I completed an associate degree in fashion design from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. As a student, I interned for women’s wear designer Meghan Fabulous at her studio in LA’s downtown fashion district. I also established a relationship with IMG Fashion as a sponsorship services assistant and worked shows in Culver City and Bryant Park. My training at FIDM catapulted me into work as a photo stylist.
After five years as a stylist on projects in all major US markets, I was promoted to photo producer. In this leadership role, I managed bookings for a board of freelance artists and maintained relationships with agency contacts. Additionally, I oversaw e-commerce fashion photography for multiple brands and several merchandise categories. Lastly, I was responsible for maintaining the studio’s styling and photography style guide.
Many of my first career experiences began with dance, first as a performer with a local entertainment company and then as a teacher at a local dance school. Throughout my time in dance, I developed choreography, trained performers, led auditions, and worked as a stage manager for a national dance competition. Additionally, I took roles onstage and behind the scenes for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian cruise lines, Paramount Viacom, and others.
As many dancers will tell you, life after dance can be challenging for our bodies. Thank goodness for yoga. The practice of yoga helped me to rehab my body from a fulfilling entertainment career. I starting teaching group classes many years ago and have since completed the Yoga Alliance, Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hour certification program through CorePower Yoga. I currently work with individual clients from a one-on-one personal training approach to yoga.
